Karen Jorgensen ended her life in July of 2007 after five years of slow debilitation brought on by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, ALS or, Lou Gehrig's disease. The photos in this gallery are of Jorgensen's life with her partner, Karen Toloui, during the years they lived with the fatal illness. Jorgensen's family buried her ashes at a cemetery in Berkeley, CA in January of 2008.
